Nursery Kids Soar with Kites in Makara Sankranti Fest

Makara Sankranti, a significant festival in India celebrated by the Hindu community, marks the end of winter and the onset of longer days. Known by different names in various states, it is a day when children joyfully engage in kite-flying after the prolonged winter hiatus. The festival also goes by diverse names such as Bihu, Baisakhi, Lohri, among others, reflecting the rich cultural diversity of India.

At Global Toddlers, we embraced the festive spirit of Sankranti on Friday, January 12th, across all segments of our institution. A special puja ceremony was conducted at the basketball ground, accompanied by the preparation of Pongal as an offering to the Sun God. During the ceremony, our Headmistress, Bibhu Ma’am, bestowed blessings upon all the children with Haldi kumkum, a traditional practice symbolising auspiciousness.

The festivities continued with the distribution of prasad among the children, followed by lively music that set the tone for spontaneous dance and enjoyment. To commemorate the occasion, each child received a special take away—a tangible reminder of their joyful participation in the Sankranti celebration. In essence, our Sankranti celebration not only fostered cultural richness and traditional practices but also created a joyous environment for our students.
