A World of Colours and Shapes: Learning Through Play

Learning becomes more meaningful when children can explore concepts through play, creativity, and hands-on experiences. Our Nursery children enjoyed a vibrant and engaging Shapes and Colour Activity Weeks, where each week introduced them to a new colour and shape through exciting activities, creative artwork, games, and sensory experiences.

From discovering the colour red and the circle shape to exploring blue and triangles, every week brought new opportunities for our little learners to observe, create, identify, and have fun while learning.

Week 1: Red Colour & Circle Shape Week

Our Nursery children had a joyful time celebrating Red Colour & Circle Shape Week with a variety of fun-filled activities and creative experiences.

Dressed in red, our little learners explored the colour through playful activities, artwork, and exciting games using red circular toys. They also enjoyed a selection of delicious red-coloured fruits and snacks, including watermelon, strawberries, pomegranate, and cherries.

The celebration became even more special as our teachers joined in by wearing red, creating a cheerful and colourful learning environment.

It was a week filled with happy memories, hands-on exploration, creativity, and joyful discoveries.

Week 2: Yellow Colour & Square–Rectangle Shape Week

The learning continued with Yellow Colour & Square–Rectangle Shape Week, celebrated from 13th to 17th July.

Dressed in bright yellow, our Nursery children participated in a range of engaging activities designed to help them recognise and explore squares and rectangles. From block printing and shape-based play to exploring square- and rectangle-shaped toys, every activity encouraged learning through discovery.

The children also enjoyed an exciting treasure hunt and relished delicious yellow-coloured snacks, making the learning experience both interactive and enjoyable.

Our teachers joined the celebration by dressing in yellow too, adding to the excitement and creating wonderful opportunities for shared learning.

It was a week filled with creativity, exploration, joyful learning, and unforgettable memories.

Week 3: Blue Colour & Triangle Shape Week

From 20th to 24th July, our Nursery children explored the world of Blue Colour & Triangle Shape Week.

Dressed in bright blue, the children took part in creative and hands-on activities that helped them recognise the colour blue and identify the triangle shape. They created triangle artwork, made triangles using ice-cream sticks, and participated in shape-sorting activities using colourful shape cut-outs.

Our teachers also joined the celebration by dressing in blue, making the week even more vibrant and special for our young learners.

Through these activities, the children developed their observation, identification, fine motor, and creative skills while having plenty of fun along the way.

It was truly a week filled with fun, creativity, exploration, and joyful learning.

A Colourful Finale

Our little learners wrapped up the Colour Week celebrations with an exciting colour-mixing activity. Through hands-on exploration, they discovered how different colours can come together to create vibrant new shades.

The activity encouraged children to experiment, observe changes, and explore their natural curiosity in a fun and engaging way.
